MUTTON CURRY IN GREEN MASALA

While i was at the of 18 i had the craze of collecting recipes from magazines or watching cookery shows on t.v. &i used to mix & match them to my taste. Here i am going to share my  mutton recipe in green masala which i cook frequently & goes well with Saffron Ghee Rice .




Preparation time:10-15 min.
Cooking time: 20-25 min.

Serves : 4 
Ingredients:
  1. 500 gm mutton pieces clean & keep aside.
  2. 2 / 160 gm tomato chopped.
  3. 100 gm each 2 onions chopped fine.
  4. Salt to taste.
  5.  1 tbsp + 1/8 cup oil.
  6. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  7. 1/2 tsp peppercorns.
  8. Few chopped coriander leaves.
  9. 8 green chilies or according to taste.
  10. 1 tbsp coriander seeds.
  11. 1tblsp khus khus.
  12. 1 tsp coriander leaves.
  13. 1/4 inch ginger.
  14. 5 cloves garlic.
  15. 1 tsp saunf (fennel seeds).
  16. 40 gm / 1/4 cup grated coconut.
  17. 1 cinnamon.
  18. 2 clove.
  19. 1 cardamom.
Method :

  • let's roast & grind the masala.

  • Heat a pan add 1 tbsp oil add 9 to 19 number  ingredients .
  • Roast on medium flame for 5 - 7 min cool & grind to paste with turmeric powder, peppercorns & grind to a fine paste.


  • Heat 1/8 cup oil in a cooker add the 1 thinly sliced onion,1 slit green chili & fry till golden brown. Remove & keep aside for garnishing.
  • In the same cooker add 1 thinly sliced onion fry till golden brown.

  • Add tomato & saute till well mashed.
  • Now add the mutton, ground masala, 1 tsp salt mix well.

  • Add 1& 1/2  cup water & let it boil.
  • Close the cooker & pressure cook to 3-4 whistle.( the mutton should be properly cooked).
  • Once the pressure is down open the lid the gravy should be thick, garnish with fried onion & coriander leaves
  • Garnish with fried onion, green chilly, coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with Saffron Ghee Rice  or parathas.
