Green tomato Curry for Chapati

I have never tried any recipes using green tomatoes nor they are available in markets, these tomatoes are fresh from my garden...This recipe i usually make them with ripe tomatoes here i used adding green tomatoes & can be cooked within a few min all you need is tomatoes, green chilies,onion,coconut milk & a few spices...
Green tomato curry makes delicious accompaniment with appam or chapati.  


Serves : 3
Ingredients :
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
  • 1/2 tsp saunf.
  • 1/4 tsp ginger paste.
  • 3 minced green chilies.
  • 1 large onion chopped.
  • 300 gm green tomatoes roughly chopped. 
  • Crushed pepper corns( according to you taste)
  • 1/2 tsp salt.
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
  • 1/8 cup water.
  • 1/3 cup thick coconut milk.
  • Few curry leaves.
  • 2 whole red chilies.
Method :

  • Heat 2 tbsp coconut oil or any other oil in a pan add the mustard seeds when it crackles add saunf,curry leaves & minced green chilies saute for 1 min.
  • Add the chopped onions & whole red chilies saute for 3 min. 
  • Add the turmeric powder,ginger paste saute for sec.
  • Now add chopped green tomatoes 1/8  cup / 2 tbsp water,salt & cool covered till the tomatoes are cooked & mashed well.
  • Open lid add crushed peppercorns stir well.
  • Add the thick coconut milk.
  • Simmer for 5 min garnish with green chilies & serve hot with Vellayappam / Appam ,dosa or rotis. Enjoy your breakfast 😋

Raw Jack fruit Pakoda

This is another summer specialty Jack fruit pakoda...Thinly sliced jackfruit & onions coated in spicy rice & maida batter deep fried to a crispy pakoda..I suggest you try this snack before the jack fruit season gets over. 




Serves :4
Ingredients :
  • 200 gm raw jackfruit peel remove seed & measure
  • 1 tsp salt 
  • Few chopped coriander leaves & curry leaves. 
  • Pinch of asafoetida. 
  • 1/4 tsp sonth (ginger powder) 
  • 1 tsp chilly powder or according to taste.
  • 2 minced green chilies.
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
  •  1/2 tsp jeera / cumin powder  
  • 1/4 tsp chat masala powder.
  • 1/2 cup rice flour.
  • 1/2 cup maida.
  • oil for deep frying. 
Method :

  • Cut jackfruit into thin slices wash & keep aside.
  • Combine all the ingredients except rice flour & maida ( all purpose flour).

  • Place in a bowl  mix well cover & keep aside to marinade for at least 1/2 an hr.

  • Add the rice flour, maida & required amount of water to make a thick batter mix well with your hands.
  • Heat oil for deep frying When hot keep the flame on medium & add a spoonful of the batter you can add 4 to 5 pakoda   at a time ( Do not over crowd) fry on both sides till crisp & golden brown.
  • Remove them on a kitchen paper towels for excess oil to be absorbed.
  • Serve the crispy hot yummy jackfruit pakoda with tomato sauce 😋
